Back from Home Visit

Earlier this month, I returned to Singapore for a buddy's wedding while Mr. LTC's objective for the trip was to complete the 42 km Standard Chartered run.

Drama unveiled while we were retrieving our luggage. One of them was waiting for us while another had gone missing! And the worst thing was my bridesmaid dress (the one I was supposed to wear the next morning!) was in that bag, along with my makeup kit! There was a similar size black America Tourister still waiting on the conveyor belt, so obviously, some joker has mistaken our black Hush Puppies for theirs! (I wonder how it could have been mistaken!)

A report was made and fingers crossed as Mr. LTC and I left the airport. A call was made to Ms. Dependable, one of the bridesmaids, for the address of the shop where the dress was purchased. (I couldn't be freaking out the Bride on the night before, right?) Ms. Dependable managed to wrestle one dress from the shop which was reserved for another customer and I needed to just pick it up. "Keep breathing...", Ms. Dependable says. Foundation, blusher, shirt, socks, undergarments...Mr. LTC and I were frantically making a list of things to buy that night while on the way to the shop. And then the airport called!

All mayhem ended and we could finally breathe...
The wedding was heartwarming and the gatecrashing brought loads of laughter and tears to us. Best wishes to Ger and her Mr. Washington!

Another objective achieved during this trip was to indulge in Singaporean food! On my checklist: bak chor mee, BBQ chicken wings, BBQ stingray, char kway teow, fried hokkien mee, or luak, chicken rice, lor duck rice, nasi lemak, roti prata, Ya Kun. All struck off! (hand rubbing my tummy...)

Meeting up with friends (and their new-borns!) was definitely in the books. My weekends were "fully booked" months before my trip and I was almost out every weekday nights too. Too many diverse groups of friends to catch up with, too little time. But it's ok. I will be back in Singapore during CNY. CNY in Hong Kong is boring for us because there's no relatives for us to visit and no mahjong (for me).
Le'etoile Cafe @ Owen Road
Bistrot Du Vin @ Shaw House
It's extremely hard to get my momentum back and listing my products after this trip. And with Christmas & New Year around the corner, hosting relatives in HK, CNY, there's so many things to look forward to! It looks like the holiday mood isn't dissipating anytime soon.

20% off on Vintage Dresses in November!

Hi there!

I'm back from my holidays and have quickly added some vintage dresses in the shop!
This is my personal favourite!
I love the geometric print, the crepe pleats on the top and skirt, the evergreen colour combination of black and sand, the lovely sheen and feather lightness of the fabric. Paired with black heels or pumps, this is a dress that can take you from work to a dinner date with ease.

November is my birthday month. To mark my baby steps in my thirties, I'm giving a 20% discount on all vintage dresses in November!

Click on "VINTAGE WEAR" tab now and start choosing what you want!

More items will be added next week after I get the photo shoot done this weekend. If you are not a fan of dresses, there are a couple of tops coming your way too!

Petals and Leaves

We have settled down (more or less) into the new apartment. There are still cartons lying behind the couch, we haven't gotten our coffee table/dining table/work desk (yes, it's going to be a 3-in-1 space saver), but yes, we can call it our home.

Finally gotten down to shooting some new vintage wear loots last weekend. Here's 3 of them first - of floral and leaves prints. I will be listing more dresses before I leave for my Taiwan trip on this Friday!!! Looking forward to it coz it's my FIRST Taiwan immigration stamp in  my passport (horrors!!) And who doesn't welcome holidays? And I'm meeting up with my family for the tour. Do I need another reason to be excited?

So if you want to get anything without having to wait for too long (I'll be back on 30th Oct), my last mail run is on this Thursday!

Featured

Some days ago, a fellow Etsian told me that she has featured my Autumn striped skirt in her blog www.soupsaladsandwich.blogspot.com It was a compilation of her favorite fall items on Etsy. I'm always glad when somebody appreciates an item I curated.
A customer-turned-friend who co-owns a wedding planning service sought my contribution to her tablescaping photoshoot. My aperitif glasses and some other items were away from me for some time to participate in her project. Here's some of the photos.
I adore this mint green set-up.
The table chandelier has never been listed in the shop. Love the idea of it being part of a floral arrangement.
There's my beloved 2-tier cake tray.

If any of you in Singapore is getting hitched soon and appreciate bold wedding ideas, you gotta go to www.loveknots.com.sg

It's Time To Move Again

Come October, we would be shifting from Kowloon to Hong Kong island to become Happy Valleyers.

The most notable landmark in Happy Valley (跑马地) is the Happy Valley Racecourse where horse racing takes place every Wednesday night. It's a small suburb that is not so infested with people yet armed with amenities at a stone's throw. Give me a fresh produce market, supermarket, post office, eateries and I'm happy.

The deal is done, we have gotten ourselves a walk-up apartment (checked!) which is an old crumbly building built in 1974 (checked!). Luckily for us, the nostalgia ends after climbing up the mosaic-tiled staircase. The flat interior was newly renovated, bright and fitted with a modern open kitchen (checked!).

It doesn't have any furniture other than a wardrobe, so we got an almost clean slate to work on. Yippee!  I love styling homes! But it's not going to be easy because of the fact that it is for short-term stay, I need to strike a balance between budget and wants.

I suggested to Mr. LTC that we should blow up and frame some pictures we took. After shooting for more than a year, I struggled when selecting my "hall-of-fame-worthy" photos. Struggled not because I'm spoilt for choice but because I can't find a pièce de résistance.

Well, here are some of my shortlisted pictures...Coincidentally, they are all taken in Paris.

Perhaps it's not Facebook that I'm putting photos in now, so I may be setting the bar up high. But this exercise reminds me that the everytime I hold my camera, I should aim for a pièce de résistance.

Sartorially Yours Launches Collection 4

Sartorially Yours has come to its 4th collection. This is the biggest collection so far, with more than 20 items of tops, bottoms, dresses and accessories.
One of my favourite item is the elastic waist sash. This is a loop of fabric that is stretchable. Worn at the waist as a sash, it really dresses up an outfit.
It can cover unappealing elastic waist bands and conceal after-a-huge-meal tummies (perfect for me!).
It can be worn thick or twisted thin.
And it adds details to an otherwise plain outfit. Love it love it love it!

Do check out the entire collection at www.sartoriallyyours.bigcartel.com now!

Unleash your Bohemian Spirit

Hi there!

I promised more vintage wear and here they are. Please click on 'Vintage Wear' tab to view them.

This time, I found a couple of pieces that fits me perfectly! There's even a classic polka dots one that I simply adore! But Mr. LTC said he wouldn't be caught with me in that dress. Not a very supportive hubby right? I was alright with him wearing Fei Yue sneakers when we go out...both pairs!
Vintage wear may mean passe designs to some, but they can be classics as well. What was 'out' years ago can be the next big thing tomorrow. Just look at polka dots. I don't know any girls who don't go crazy over polka dots. Need i mention bright colour blocks of the eighties?
For gals who rush out to fashion chains & deck out in the latest fashion must-have, sure, you may be trendy. But stylish is where you can put together an one-of-a-kind ensemble that gives you an identity.  Throw on a vintage item, by all means, mix and match with other trendy stuff and old just became new!

Japanese Vintage Wear

Hi there!

Vintage wear is now in store! Making the debut are some japanese vintage dresses & skirt.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind and are in wonderful condition. There is no visible stains nor tears, zips are working smoothly, buttons (if any) are securely sewn on (however buttons do show signs of age).
Some of them are deadstock while others may be pre-loved. Either way, each piece has been carefully selected and checked for flaws. They aren't pristine due to age but the slight imperfections are what that give it its yesteryear charms.
Vintage wear shows really excellent and detailed sewing. Nothing beats the neat tiny stitches, tightly sewn hooks and impeccable workmanship on clothes of yesteryear. A far cry from the wide stitches, loosely sewn buttons that are seen on mass market clothes nowadays.
I hope I can find something that fits me the next time I go scavenging.

To view what's available, click on the 'Vintage Wear' tab above. Have fun shopping!

My Sweet Lunch

Mr. LTC & I returned to Pumpernickel last Saturday, hoping to try the Crumble Cheesecake. This time, we went to the cafe at Causeway Bay. Alas! It was not available that day. Determined to try their desserts, I had their mushroom soup (I love soup) & ordered the Blueberry Cheesecake & Tiramisu. That's lunch for me.
Mr. LTC handed me this book from the magazine rack. It's all about cafes in Hong Kong.
No wonder I keep seeing his pictures sprinkled in the book...this was edited by him...(I always think Mr. LTC bears a strong resemblance to him...)
The cafes mentioned in this book are sectioned into different categories such as "branded cafes", "under-the-radar cafes", "stylish indie cafes". Among those mentioned, I have tried a couple of them. I've noted the address of some interesting ones. Gotta visit them. And I gotta go back to Pumpernickel for that slice of elusive Crumble Cheesecake!
